About Salem

Salem is one of the busier towns at the south end of New Hampshire, with the South Broadway retail strip along Route 28 pulling steady traffic from across the Massachusetts border. Canobie Lake Park is the big amusement park in town, and the New Hampshire state liquor store off the highway is a long-running draw for shoppers heading north out of MA. Off the commercial corridor, Salem opens up into a wide mix of suburban residential neighborhoods.

From Fremont, Salem is about 22 miles south-southwest, roughly a 35-minute drive.

What we offer in Salem

All four roll-off sizes are available in Salem: 10-yard for tight driveways and small projects, 15 for medium jobs, 20 for full-house cleanouts and roof tear-offs, and 30 for contractor and demo work. We also do full-service junk removal when you'd rather not load a container yourself.

Salem driveways vary. Newer subdivisions usually have room for a 20 or 30. Older streets closer to the commercial core can be tighter. Send us a photo of the spot and we'll tell you what'll work.

Neighborhoods and roads in Salem

NH-28 (South Broadway and North Broadway) is the spine of Salem, running south to north through the commercial corridor and the retail strip that draws so much of the cross-border traffic from Massachusetts. I-93 cuts through the west side of town with the main exits feeding the commercial and residential areas. Canobie Lake and Canobie Lake Park sit on the west side, with lake-area housing wrapped around them. Salem Common and the older village streets sit closer to the middle of town. Off the Route 28 corridor, the residential side opens up into a mix of post-war neighborhoods and newer developments stretching out toward the Atkinson and Pelham lines.

What customers in Salem usually call us for

Common Salem calls include full-house cleanouts when a property changes hands, garage and basement cleanouts after years of accumulation, kitchen and bathroom remodels in the older neighborhoods, and roof tear-offs across the residential streets. We see the full mix, with newer subdivisions on the outer edges and older streets closer to the commercial core. We also see single-item pickups for things like old hot tubs, fridges, and water heaters, and shed and above-ground pool demos come up through the warmer months. Estate cleanouts come up too, usually slotted around a 20-yard parked on the driveway for a week.

Sizing notes for Salem homes

For a bathroom remodel or a single-room cleanout, a 10-yard usually does the job and fits even tighter Salem driveways. A 15-yard is the right call for a kitchen or a mid-size cleanout. Full-house cleanouts, roof tear-offs on a typical two-story, and most contractor renovations work best in a 20-yard, and the newer subdivisions have plenty of room for one. For additions, larger demos, or anyone working through a heavier debris load, the 30-yard is the safer call.

Common questions from Salem customers

Do you serve all of Salem? Yes, from the Route 28 corridor over to the Canobie Lake area and out toward the Atkinson and Pelham lines. Salem is a longer drive from our Fremont yard than the towns just south of us, so we usually slot it onto the route with the rest of the day.

Can you put the dumpster on the lawn? Usually yes. We bring boards to set under the wheels so the grass doesn't get torn up. Tell us when you call if that's the plan.

What size do I need for a typical Salem roof tear-off? A 20-yard handles most single-layer asphalt shingle tear-offs on a typical two-story. Larger roofs or multi-layer tear-offs are better in a 30 so you're not paying for a second swap.

Do you take appliances and old hot tubs? Yes. Fridges, AC units, water heaters, washers, and dryers all go in, and we can demo and haul a hot tub on the same visit either as a junk removal job or alongside a dumpster on site.
