YouTube, a dump trailer, and a one-way flight to Ohio.
Declan started Scribby's in 2021 the way a lot of side hustles start: poking around YouTube and landing on junk removal.
He bought a dump trailer, hooked it to his pickup, and started posting on Facebook. A few jobs trickled in. At the time he was selling houses as a realtor, but the real estate work wasn't the work he wanted to be doing.
After a while he flew out to Ohio, bought his first roll-off truck and a single dumpster, drove it back to Fremont, and that was the start of Scribby's.
Five years later the fleet is at 20 dumpsters and most of the work comes through referrals and repeat customers. He runs his company on basic principles: show up when you said you would, charge what you quoted, answer the phone when it rings. In the contractor world, that's made all the difference for Scribby's.
He lives in Fremont with his wife. When he's not on a job he's usually hiking Mount Major or Pawtuckaway, out hunting, or on a pickleball court somewhere.
