Haverhill is a city of about 64,000 people in Essex County, Massachusetts, with the Merrimack River cutting right through downtown. It was one of the country's biggest shoe manufacturing centers a century ago, and you can still see that history in the brick downtown buildings near the river. Today the city is mostly residential and commercial, with the old factories converted to condos, offices, and storage.
From our Fremont yard it's about 22 miles south, roughly 35 minutes on Route 125. Haverhill covers the downtown waterfront, the residential streets in Bradford, Riverside, and out toward the Atkinson line.
All four roll-off sizes are available in Haverhill: 10-yard for tight downtown spots and single-room remodels, 15 for medium projects, 20 for full-house cleanouts and roof tear-offs, and 30 for contractor and demo jobs. Older Haverhill neighborhoods near downtown have shorter driveways and street parking, which is where the 10-yard fits best. The newer subdivisions on the south side have plenty of room for a 20 or 30. Send us a photo of the spot if you're not sure what'll work.
The Merrimack River cuts through the middle of Haverhill, with downtown on the north bank and Bradford on the south side connected by the bridges at Route 125. The old brick downtown sits right along the water, with the converted shoe factories now running as condos and offices. Riverside and the streets east of downtown lean older, with shorter driveways and street parking. Bradford has its own village center plus quieter residential streets working back from the river. The newer subdivisions sit south of downtown and out toward the Atkinson line, with longer driveways and more setback. Route 110 runs east-west along the north bank, Route 125 cuts north toward the NH border, and I-495 wraps the west side of the city for the quickest run in from our Fremont yard.
Common dumpster and junk-removal jobs in Haverhill include full-house cleanouts when a property changes hands, garage and basement cleanouts after years of accumulation, kitchen and bathroom renovations in the older homes near downtown and Bradford, and roof tear-offs across the residential streets. Single-item pickups come in too, usually for an old fridge, a water heater that finally quit, or a hot tub that's been sitting in the backyard. Estate cleanouts come up when a longtime owner moves or a place is going on the market. Shed, deck, and above-ground pool demos come up through the warmer months. For larger contractor jobs, like additions, mill-building renovations, or new builds, a 20-yard parked for the week is usually the right size.
Haverhill is a longer drive from our Fremont yard than the towns just south of us, but we run the same four sizes across the line. For a bathroom remodel or a single-room cleanout, a 10-yard usually does the job and fits the tighter driveways near downtown. A 15-yard is the right size for a kitchen or a mid-size cleanout. Full-house cleanouts, roof tear-offs on a typical two-story, and most renovations work best in a 20-yard, and the Bradford and south-side driveways generally have room for one. For additions, larger demos, or contractor jobs running heavier debris, the 30-yard is the safer call.
Will a roll-off fit in downtown Haverhill? The brick downtown blocks near the river are tight. A 10-yard usually works on a driveway, and anything bigger needs a careful look at the spot. Send us a photo before you book and we'll tell you what makes sense.
How long can I keep the dumpster? Standard rental is seven days. If you need an extra day or two, we can usually work that out. Anything longer and we'll need to talk about pickup timing so we can keep the box on the route.
Do you take appliances and old water heaters? Yes. Fridges and AC units have a small fee for the freon handling at the transfer station, and mattresses have a small per-item fee. What we can't take is wet paint, motor oil, asbestos, dirt or gravel, or organic wood and yard waste.
