The 10-yard is the cheapest size we run. The dumpster itself is bigger than the price suggests, but the rental comes with a 1-ton weight allowance. For light projects where you need volume more than weight capacity, it's the right call.
Footprint is the same as our 15-yard, so the truck access requirements are identical. It fits on most standard residential driveways. On nicer driveways, or if you ask, boards go under the wheels.
1 ton is 2,000 lbs. For mixed household debris, that's a lot. For dense material like wet drywall, plaster, roofing shingles, dirt, or brick, it adds up quick. If you know the load is going to be heavy, mention it on the call and we'll talk through whether the 10-yard tier still makes sense or whether the 15 is the smarter pick.
Ten cubic yards is about three loads out of a full-size pickup bed, heaped. That is a 12 by 12 room taken down to the studs, or a single bathroom including the tub and the vanity, or the contents of a one-car garage that has been collecting for a decade.
Roofers ask about squares. One square is 100 square feet of shingle, and a single layer of three-tab runs somewhere around 250 pounds. The one ton allowance on the 10-yard covers roughly eight squares of that. Architectural shingle is heavier and a second layer underneath doubles it, so a 1,200 square foot ranch with two layers on it is a 15-yard job even though the volume would fit here.
The thing that catches people out on the 10 is bulk, not weight. Three couches and a mattress will fill it while the scale still reads under half a ton. Furniture is the load where you size up on volume and ignore the tonnage entirely.
This is the only size decision on our fleet where space is not the tiebreaker. The 10 and the 15 sit on the identical 12 by 8 footprint and stand the same six feet tall, so the smaller tier takes exactly the same driveway, the same overhead clearance, and the same truck approach as the bigger one.
Which means if you picked the 10 because you were worried about fitting it, that worry does not apply. You would be choosing the smaller container purely on price and on the half ton of allowance, not on access.
Stay with the 10 when the job is genuinely small and the material is dense: one bathroom, a small tear-off, clean fill, concrete. Move to the 15-yard the moment furniture is involved, or the room count goes past one, or you find yourself hoping it will all fit.
The 10-yard runs out of the Fremont yard to all 92 towns we cover, but the ones below are where it gets asked for most: older village centres and tight in-town lots where the driveway, not the load, decides the size. Exeter and Kingston in particular throw up a lot of short drives with a slope on them.

A 10-yard holds roughly a single room, a bathroom gut, a small roof, or a garage corner. It is the smallest box we run, which makes it the one for tight driveways, in-town lots, and jobs where access is the problem rather than volume. If you describe what you are clearing out we will tell you honestly whether the 10 is the right call or whether you want a different size.
It takes 12 by 8 feet of ground and stands 6 feet tall, and the truck needs about ten feet clear beyond the box to tilt it off. This is the size to ask about when the drive is short, slopes, or has a car that cannot move. Send a photo of the spot and we will tell you before delivery day rather than after.

One ton, and that allowance is included in the price rather than added on after. Anything past it is billed per ton. Heavy material fills the weight before it fills the box, so if you are loading shingles, plaster, brick, or wet drywall into the 10-yard, say so when you book and we will size the job for weight instead of volume.
Standard rental is seven days. Ten-yard jobs tend to be short and self-contained, so most of these go out and come back inside a long weekend. If the bathroom turns into the bathroom plus the hallway, call before the week is up and we will extend it rather than run a second delivery.
The next size up is the 15-yard. The 10 is the right pick when access is tight or the job is genuinely small. If you are on the fence, going up one costs less than filling the 10 and paying for a second haul.
Almost never. At 12 feet the 10-yard is the one size that fits on short village-centre drives without any part of it reaching the road, which is what triggers a permit. If your only flat spot really is the street, your town office handles it and we will work to whatever date they give you.
All 92. The 10-yard is asked for most in Exeter, Kingston, Plaistow and Hampstead, where the older lots and shorter driveways suit the smaller box, and it runs out of the Fremont yard the same as every other size. Give us the street address rather than the town name and we will confirm the placement at the same time.
Rent the 10-yard when you want the container sitting there while you work through a basement or a bathroom at your own pace over a few days. Book junk removal instead when the pile already exists and you would rather not touch it again, or when there is nowhere to put a container. The 10-yard is the size where this question comes up most, because a small load is exactly the load a crew can clear in one visit.
