Londonderry is one of southern NH's growth towns. Apple orchards on the north side, newer subdivisions stretching south toward the Derry and Hudson lines, the airport corridor on the west, and a mix of older farm properties and modern construction throughout. Here's what to expect if you're renting a dumpster in town.
The newer subdivisions
A lot of Londonderry's recent housing growth has been in the developments on the south end of town (along the Derry line) and toward Hudson. These are modern neighborhoods with wide driveways, decent overhead clearance, and standard suburban access.
For most projects in these sections:
- A 20-yard fits on the typical driveway
- A 30-yard fits on the larger lots
- Overhead clearance is usually fine
- Modern construction means typical reno debris weight (drywall, not plaster)
These are the easier Londonderry jobs to schedule.
The older sections
The neighborhoods closer to Londonderry's town center, around Mammoth Road and the older farm areas, have a different access pattern. Older homes, sometimes longer driveways, more mature trees overhead, and lots that vary widely in size.
A few things to watch in older Londonderry:
- Some properties have shared driveways with neighbors. Coordination matters.
- Mature trees overhead, especially on west-side properties. Walk the overhead route before delivery.
- Older homes sometimes have plaster-and-lath walls (heavier reno debris). Worth knowing for sizing.
- Detached garages and outbuildings are common on the older lots.
The 15-yard and 20-yard fit most older Londonderry sections.
The rural and farm areas
Londonderry still has working farmland on the north side, including some long-running apple orchards. Properties with barns, outbuildings, or detached workshops have their own access pattern:
- Long driveways through working land
- Wide-open placement options once you're on site
- Heavier loads if there's old farm equipment or building materials going
For an outbuilding or barn cleanout on a larger property, a 20-yard or 30-yard usually fits.
The airport corridor
Manchester-Boston Regional Airport sits partially in Londonderry, and the commercial corridor along Route 28 and Industrial Drive has a lot of small-business and light-industrial activity. For commercial properties in this area, parking lot or loading dock access is usually how delivery works. Weekday mornings are easier for traffic.
Sizing for Londonderry projects
Rough starting points:
- Bath remodel: 10 or 15-yard
- Kitchen reno: 15 or 20-yard
- Whole-house cleanout in a 1990s subdivision: 20-yard
- Roof tear-off, average single-family: 20-yard single layer, 30-yard double
- Barn or outbuilding cleanout: 20 or 30-yard
Phone call refines based on materials and access.
Distance from Fremont
Londonderry is about 25 minutes from the Fremont yard. We can usually fit a delivery into the schedule fairly quickly.
A note on snow season
A specific Londonderry consideration: the older farm-area sections sometimes have unplowed access roads to outbuildings during winter. If you're scheduling a winter dumpster delivery to a barn or outbuilding, the access road needs to be plowed first. Mention it on the call so we don't show up to an unplowed lane.
The booking call
For a Londonderry job, the questions are:
- Section of town (newer subdivisions, older center, airport corridor, rural)
- Property type (single-family, farm, commercial)
- Project type and rough scope
- Access (driveway, lane, loading dock)
